‘IN THE WOODS’ A Guided Meditation (Grange Park* or Virtual Option)

Grange Park*, Toronto or Virtual Option

Let's take advantage of warm weather and do some more outdoor mindfulness practice. And why not use sensory cues from ‘the woods‘ - ok an admittedly urban version - to lull us into that blissful state of mindful presence? Let’s sit under the summer evening sky and listen to the leaves rustling and experience the splendor and woody scent of these magnificent trees. As this woods-themed meditation is prerecorded you can also join us virtually from wherever you'll happen to be. Maybe you have a nice green grove near you? Or the woods in your imagination?

And metaphorically speaking, being in the woods can also mean struggle. For example if someone asks how something is going you might say “well I'm not out of the woods yet”. During this meditation you'll be invited to pick 1 area of struggle in your life. We'll apply some light mindfulness practice here in order to try and build more tolerance to this particular adversity and hopefully some peace and acceptance - if just for this moment. (This doesn't mean you won't discern and problem solve when back in your usual mode).

What you will need: Just a smart phone with YouTube capability and a pair of headphones. Prior to the event I will send you a link to the meditation. Grange Park is an inspiring 2-hectare green space right behind the AGO. Bring a towel with you to sit on and maybe a sweater and some water or tea.

‘SUMMER’ A Guided Meditation (Toronto Harbourfront or Virtual Option)

Toronto Harbourfront or Virtual Option

Summer has just begun. And it's time to set the tone! I have created a special meditation dedicated to this season we are entering. It is unique in that it calls on both our analytic and experiential modes. We're going to take a look at everything we anticipate coming our way this summer, the good, the bad, the challenging, the inspiring. What is your theme for this summer?

We'll be heading to the harbourfront where you will be able to do this either as a sitting or walking meditation. As this is a pre-recorded reading you can also join us virtually from wherever you'll happen to be. Maybe from the cottage? Or perhaps your backyard or deck while sitting in a lounge chair?

During this meditation we're going to contemplate from an analytic point of view some important questions. What do you want out of this summer? What are you looking forward to? What are you up against? Be it an exciting challenge or a big problem. What are some obstacles you face? What is your strategy? We’re going to lull ourselves into pondering these questions with a relaxed but engaged analytic mind.

Then we'll switch gears and incite the experiential mind. What happens when you apply some mindfulness practice to your view of the summer that awaits you? Let’s call up the mental mode that is able to turn towards and experience the full picture of the days ahead. This includes the great stuff, the awkward, the dreaded, and the amazing. We’re going to take a full look. Can you also use this as an opportunity to strengthen your capacity to be in the moment and really do some quality living this summer?

Join us on this fun, yet practical, therapeutic and inspiring meditation on summer.

All you need is a smart phone and headset. Upon RSVP’ing you will be sent a link prior to the event.
